Brief History |
|||||||
The programme has officially been in existence since 2003 when it started off with a mere 19 students. What prompted its evolvement from idea to commencement, was the need as identified by the Chairman of the SAADP Board, Cyril Ramaphosa, for black actuarial skills in the South African economy. This is the driving force behind the programme. As a consequence of dedication to the vision to improve these skills, today there are more than 80 students across the campuses of Wits, UCT and UP receiving support and encouragement in the pursuit of becoming qualified actuaries. |

Executive Director Nokwanda Mkhize refers to the programme and all those involved in it as the ‘SAADP family’. There is support, care and nurturing on all levels in all areas, and for those who are hardworking and pass well SAADP's financial support will also contribute to their success. Actuarial Science is a very specialised field requiring discipline, intelligence, integrity, the ability to work hard consistently, and above all a passion for the subject coupled with the will to succeed. If you have these attributes you may be considered for selection, but be warned : this is the bare minimum in order to succeed in a fiercely competitive and very demanding field of study. |
